Mitsubishi Mirage: Back to Automotive Basics

Mitsubishi Mirage: Back to Automotive Basics

Wednesday, October 16th, 2013

It may look like a mouse but the 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage goes back to automotive basics. In a day and age where consumers are demanding more power, more luxury, and more tech, vehicles are becoming bloated and overweight. The 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage is fighting that trend. Weighing in at 1,973 pounds and powered by a naturally aspirated 1.2-liter 3 cylinder generating a poky 74 horsepower and 74 pound feet of torque. Some may look at this car and ask, why? This is what the compact cars of the 80’s and 90’s were like, small, naturally aspirated, workhorses. There are no weight reduction tricks, no force-induction, and no over the top design to compensate for its lack of performance.

Aston Martin Sticking to V12 Engines

Aston Martin Sticking to V12 Engines

Tuesday, October 15th, 2013

Aston Martin has confirmed that it will not adopt gasoline-electric hybrid technology. More recently many sport car manufacturers like Ferrari, Porsche, and McLaren have been adopting hybrid technologies to meet emission requirements and to boost the performance of their vehicles. By adding hybrid technology these makers are adding complicated electric systems and weight to their vehicles. Aston Martin plans to meet strict emission requirements by making their vehicles lighter and more aerodynamic with the use of carbon composites and by fine tuning their V12 engines to maximize efficiency.
