BMW X5 & X6 M Debut Ahead Of Los Angeles Auto Show
Wednesday, November 5th, 2014BMW has treated enthusiasts this week by debuting the 2015 BMW X5 and X6 M Sports Activity Vehicles. These new models are greatly improved over their predecessors and continue to defy the laws of physics.
For 2015, the X5 and X6 M ride on the same updated platform as the standard X5 and is now powered by an uprated version of the outgoing twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 which now produces 567 horsepower and 553 pound feet of torque, up from 555 horsepower and 500 pound feet of torque. Power is now sent through a new ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission through BMW’s popular xDrive all-wheel drive system.
Both vehicles’ weight is in excess of 5,000 pounds and are able to accelerate from zero to sixty in four-seconds flat which is quite mind boggling given their extra poundage. With the updated engines and ‘slightly’ lower curb weight, BMW claims both models feature twenty-percent lower emissions and fuel consumption on the European cycle.
From an exterior standpoint both vehicles adopt various M aesthetics including 21-inch wheels, quad-exhausts, side gills, larger air intakes, flared wheel arches and much more. Inside, the cabin is fitted with M badges to remind you that you are driving something quite special.
U.S pricing for the 2015 BMW X5 M begin at $99,650 while the X6 M starts at $103,050.
