Mercedes Benz AMG Black Series: Definition Of Exclusivity

Mercedes Benz AMG Black Series: Definition Of Exclusivity

Saturday, May 20th, 2017

The legendary AMG division was established over 45 years ago in 1967 by two former Mercedes engineers, Mr. Hans Werner Aufrecht and Mr. Erhard Melcher, both of whom developed racing engines for Daimler Benz’s racing department. As the years went by, Daimler Benz began to discontinue all racing activities, but Aufrecht and Melcher continued engine development in a garage in Aufrecht’s birth town of Grossapach, Germany, near Stuttgart.

CarVerse Epic Find of the Day: Ferrari 612 Scaglietti

The Ferrari 612 Scaglietti was Ferrari’s first true two plus two in recent time. Its predecessor, the 456 M, could sit little more than a small dog in the back seat. Its name isn’t exactly the prettiest. It conjures up images of a scarab or snaggle or even less appropriate words. However, its appearance is far more pleasant if not terribly exciting.

Equal parts engineering and art, this Pagani Zonda F is one of the finest supercars money can buy. This particular car has a unique story. It started life as a Zonda Roadster S when it left the factory in 2004. In 2009, it was completely converted to a Zonda Roadster F. Most recently, it received a prototype sequential gearbox, all from the Pagani factory.

Southern California might be home to sun-kissed beaches, Hollywood starlets, and countless sprawling planned housing communities, but for the true car enthusiast, there is one thing, above all else, that California has which no other place in the world can call its own; a die-hard passionate car community.

2015 GMG Racing Open House

2015 GMG Racing Open House

Monday, November 23rd, 2015

This weekend’s forecast in typically sunny Southern California consisted of just the opposite, rainy and cold with a chance of thunderstorms.  Even with the dreary forecast, the annual open house held by Global Motorsports Group (GMG) Racing was destined to have a large attendance.  There would no doubt be gangs of fans eager to get up close and personal with some of the best-designed racing and street tuned cars around.  As luck would have it, the show would go on with only a sprinkle of rain scattered here and there, still with enough sun to keep you dry and warm.  Weather aside, you knew even before you turned down the infamous Shannon Street that you were going to be in for one heck of a show.

Exhaust Sounds of the Future

Exhaust Sounds of the Future

In the year 2000, cars were relatively simple. They did not have safety systems like automatic braking or Active Traction Control to keep idiots out of ditches. The Cadillac Escalade did not have (or need) a ‘Sport Mode’ (LOL). Moreover, it took a big V8 to make over 300-hp. But thanks to new technologies like variable-geometry turbo's, direct injection, and electric motors; cars like the 2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost (it does not have any sort of hybrid system) can spit out 310-hp from a 2.3-liter 4-cylinder! By contrast, the 2000 Ford Mustang GT managed just 260-hp from its 4.6L V8!
