Southern California might be home to sun-kissed beaches, Hollywood starlets, and countless sprawling planned housing communities, but for the true car enthusiast, there is one thing, above all else, that California has which no other place in the world can call its own; a die-hard passionate car community.

2015 GMG Racing Open House

2015 GMG Racing Open House

Monday, November 23rd, 2015

This weekend’s forecast in typically sunny Southern California consisted of just the opposite, rainy and cold with a chance of thunderstorms.  Even with the dreary forecast, the annual open house held by Global Motorsports Group (GMG) Racing was destined to have a large attendance.  There would no doubt be gangs of fans eager to get up close and personal with some of the best-designed racing and street tuned cars around.  As luck would have it, the show would go on with only a sprinkle of rain scattered here and there, still with enough sun to keep you dry and warm.  Weather aside, you knew even before you turned down the infamous Shannon Street that you were going to be in for one heck of a show.

Exhaust Sounds of the Future

In the year 2000, cars were relatively simple. They did not have safety systems like automatic braking or Active Traction Control to keep idiots out of ditches. The Cadillac Escalade did not have (or need) a ‘Sport Mode’ (LOL). Moreover, it took a big V8 to make over 300-hp. But thanks to new technologies like variable-geometry turbo's, direct injection, and electric motors; cars like the 2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost (it does not have any sort of hybrid system) can spit out 310-hp from a 2.3-liter 4-cylinder! By contrast, the 2000 Ford Mustang GT managed just 260-hp from its 4.6L V8!

Nissan’s Skyline is one of Japan’s greatest automotive achievements. It has become an icon and internationally recognizable even in regions where it was never sold. It’s been featured in movies, TV shows and dominated professional and amateur motorsports alike. Sadly, the Skyline GT-R is no longer in production, but it lives on as the GT-R in nearly every region of the world.

The Greatest Mercedes Ever Made: 1968 Mercedes 300 SEL 6.3

Mercedes Benz is the world’s oldest car company, and they have built many great cars over the last 130-odd years. However, as a long-time Mercedes owner and fan, I think the legendary 6.3 is greatest Merc ever made. It is not the most powerful or the prettiest. However, this quiet, chrome-laden sedan singlehandedly turned a dowdy German carmaker into a performance icon.

CarVerse Epic Find of the Day: Ferrari F50

Wednesday, November 11th, 2015

The Ferrari F50 is an often overlooked Ferrari even though it is one of the Italian company’s incredible, limited run halo cars. The F40 seems to get the majority of the praise. It is the grandfather to all of Ferrari’s top of the line, limited cars, and it was the first road legal turbo Ferrari to reach 200 mph. Considering its pedigree, this legendary rare Ferrari is up for sale, and it could be yours....if your pockets are deep enough
